Rural-Urban Disparities in Thyroid Cancer Incidence and Survival

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

This is a study where we show national incidence of thyroid cancer is higher for urban populations, likely related to overdiagnosis, a possible consequence of increasing use of ultrasound.  Of interest, however, we found that survival was better than rural populations, suggesting a balanced approach in how we manage these populations is warranted for this otherwise indolent disease. Am also wondering if this is related to access to RAI therapies...
